Holiday at Home
A group of older folk gather to enjoy a 'holiday at home' - a few days of fun and laughter sharing with others who are no longer able to holiday either because of age or disability.
The holiday starts with guests arriving at a local venue, or being picked up at their own home by car or mini-bus if they are not mobile enough. Following a welcome drink, each day continues with activities and table games, or just a chance to chat. Photo displays of times past provide the start of plenty of memories and conversation. There are talks, games, crafts and a good sing!
Various other entertainments and Time for Thought carry on throughout each day, until the carriages are called again and guests are taken home at end of the afternoon.
Holiday at Home can provide fun and friendships for pensioners who can no longer get away on their own holidays, as well as giving respite to families and carers.
