Digital Inclusion
Digital technology has transformed society. It has changed how we communicate, learn, work, socialise, engage and participate. It has dramatically altered relationships between citizens, communities, civil society, businesses and government.
While the majority of people enjoy the benefits of at least some aspects of digital technology and the positive impact that it can have upon wellbeing, there remain many citizens who do not have access to these benefits.
Locality Links has a proven track record in recruiting and supporting volunteers to engage and work with hard to reach learners who are socially excluded.
This project brings together older members of local communities to deliver personalized computer training sessions to help them better understand how to use computers and the internet. It is also an opportunity for social interaction in an informal learning environment.
Participants have the option of bringing their own devices to the sessions or can use the computers at selected venues. Participants will nominate their areas of desired knowledge which will be addressed by the volunteer trainer.
At the end of each session, a morning tea will be held so participants can socialize and share their learning experience.
