Winter Warmers
Locality Links works with local communities to give people a warm and friendly place to go when temperatures dip. We are seeking people to give a little of their spare time to help out.
The scheme works with local venues such as community halls and cinemas to open up when temperatures drop for winter, or when heavy snow or widespread ice is forecast. Locality Links recruits and manages volunteers to help out at local venues to be on hand to provide hot drinks, soup, blankets and a chat.
The scheme is aimed at helping keep those who have difficulty heating their homes, older people, or those with long term health problems, warm and safe on the coldest days, and offering people a chance to socialise during what can be an isolating time of year.
There are a range of volunteering roles required to support this project, including local people who can telephone those in need to let them know that a venue is going to open; make hot drinks and have a chat, or provide transport, possibly simply assisting people to walk to the venue.
Please contact us@localitylinks.org.uk to get involved.
