Altogether Better Fund Appeal

Our Altogether Better Programme is at the heart of Locality Links. The Altogether Better Fund Appeal ensures that Locality Links projects will have the capacity to meet the need of local communities.

Our Leadership Group has a target to raise £225,000 for our Altogether Better Annual Fund. We would greatly welcome your help with reaching this target through a personal donation. our support of our Altogether Better Annual Appeal will help to underpin all Locality Links work. Our Annual Fund meets the cost of its coordination to ensure many more will benefit from this unique programme each year.

  • Legacies – gifts for our futures
  • A legacy is a gift to Locality Links, which you leave in your will. We urge you to consider taking this step for Locality Links now, because your legacy represents the best possible way of ensuring the continuation of our work far into the future.
  • Outright gifts and bequests are completely free of inheritance tax. Whether you have already made a will or not, leaving a gift to Locality Links can be straightforward. If you have a will, your solicitor can add a short statement (a codicil) to make an adjustment. If you do not have a will, any solicitor can quickly make the arrangements.

  • Shares Gifting – investing in social change
  • This scheme makes your investment worth up to 140% of its value as well as providing tax benefits for the donor. The combination of Income Tax relief and Capital Gains Tax relief now available offers tax relief for the donor of up to 80% against the value of the shares you give. One friend of Locality Links used their shares to kickstart our Major Gifts initiative, a donation that has the potential to generate 30 times the original investment! For example £10,000 worth of shares which is now worth £15,000 donated to a charity would generate £6,000 worth of income tax relief for a higher rate taxpayer and save the donor £2,000 in CGT.
  • You will be exempt from Capital Gains Tax on any profit element on such investments (up to 40%). You can claim tax relief at your top rate of tax (up to 40%), on your self-assessment return. Such gifts are also exempt from Stamp Duty and there are no other costs imposed on the donor.
  • Your gift could help launch an existing programme in a new locality or a new programme in an existing area. Whether your support in shares is to maintain our work, or start a new development it will make an immediate impact. .
