Why we are here
We are committed to making lives better for local people and to use our experiences to help others across the country.
Loneliness and isolation are cross-cutting issues that seriously impact on the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. Loneliness and isolation are not fringe issues; they have been shown to damage health, are the basis for social exclusion and are a significant and pressing problem that crosses all boundaries of social class, race, gender identification, sexual orientation, financial status and geography. Eradicating loneliness and isolation may be unrealistic, but working at all levels, individual, organisational and strategic, identifying and tackling the root causes, is not.
We are committed to making lives better for local people and to use our experiences to help others across the country. We have ambitious plans to meet our strategic priorities:
- Skilled and Enterprising People
- Ready and Resourceful Neighbourhoods
- Connected and Influential Communities
We will achieve these through our local work and widen the impact by sharing the learning through our policy and communication work. We know what needs to be done – and we know the huge gap in funding and services that we need to bridge to ensure that local communities can grasp all the opportunities on offer.
